What Is Wegovy Pill?
The Wegovy Pill contains semaglutide, the same active ingredient as the injectable form, delivered as a once-daily oral tablet rather than a weekly injection.
It follows the same principle of gradual dose escalation under clinical supervision, and is taken according to the specific food and water timing instructions provided with your prescription.
Available strengths: 1.5mg–25.0mg. Your clinician will determine the appropriate starting dose and escalation schedule for you.

Who May Be Suitable
Treatment may be considered for adults who:
- Have a BMI within a clinically defined range
- Have weight-related health conditions (such as hypertension or type 2 diabetes), or
- Meet other medical criteria set out in UK guidance
- Prefer an oral tablet to a weekly injection
A full medical history is required before any prescribing decision is made. We do not prescribe for cosmetic weight loss.
How It's Administered
- Taken once daily as a tablet, first thing in the morning on an empty stomach
- Swallowed whole with no more than 120ml (half a glass) of plain water
- You must wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking anything else, or taking other oral medicines
- Missing these timing rules can significantly reduce how much of the medicine is absorbed
- Dose is increased gradually over time under clinical supervision
Who Should Not Use This Treatment
Treatment is unlikely to be suitable if you:
- Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to conceive
- Have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2)
- Have a known hypersensitivity to semaglutide or any other ingredient in the tablet
- Have type 1 diabetes or a history of diabetic ketoacidosis
- Have a history of pancreatitis or severe gastrointestinal disease (this will be reviewed individually)

Common Side Effects
- Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhoea
- Constipation or indigestion
- Abdominal pain or bloating
- Reduced appetite
- Fatigue or headache
Serious Warning Signs
Seek urgent medical attention if you experience:
- Severe, persistent abdominal pain (possibly spreading to your back), with or without vomiting — may indicate pancreatitis
- Pain in the upper right abdomen, fever, or yellowing of the skin or eyes — may indicate a gallbladder problem
- Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing — signs of a severe allergic reaction
- A lump or swelling in the neck, hoarseness, or difficulty swallowing — should be reported promptly
- Changes in vision if you have type 2 diabetes and existing diabetic eye disease
- Signs of dehydration or kidney problems following prolonged vomiting or diarrhoea

- Clinical trial evidence shows weight regain is common after stopping GLP-1 treatment, so your clinician can discuss a plan for maintaining results
